Community Guidelines & Board Rules
Community Guidelines & Board Rules
Welcome to Drums On Stage! Our goal is to maintain a friendly, engaging, and informative space dedicated to drum gear, hardware engineering, vintage and modern manufacturing, shell technology, and everything related to acoustic and electronic percussion.
This forum is decision-built to be fun, educational, and inspiring—we want every member and visitor to leave glad they came. To keep the community organized, respectful, and welcoming, all members are asked to follow these guidelines.
1. Positive Tone & Inclusive Environment
-
Positive Culture & Vibe: Discussions should remain constructive and enjoyable. A generalized negative vibe, persistent cynicism, or hostile tone is counterproductive to building a great community and has no place here.
-
Inclusivity & Respect for All: Every drummer, builder, collector, and enthusiast—regardless of background, gender, or experience level—is welcome here. In particular, female drummers and visitors should feel fully respected; objectification, casual sexism, or dismissive behavior toward any group is not welcome.
-
Fact-Focused Discussions: When discussing technical specs, gear performance, manufacturing methods, or brand history, stick to dry facts and objective details. Constructive debate, healthy devil’s advocacy, and alternative technical suggestions are always welcome, but keep discussions grounded in facts rather than emotional embellishment.
2. Religion & Politics Policy
-
Religious Topics: Theological or religious debates belong elsewhere. However, discussing church gigs, worship music setups, playing techniques, or touring with religious artists is entirely welcome, as these topics directly relate to drumming, equipment choices, and professional venues.
-
Political & Economic Scope: Broad political debates and partisan discussions are outside the scope of our community. Political or regulatory topics are only relevant insofar as they directly impact trade tariffs, supply chain issues, raw material access, or the global manufacturing and retail landscape of musical instruments.
-
Keep It Civil: Inflammatory jabs at public figures or political parties, divisive commentary, or aggressive political debates are not appropriate for this forum. Keep discussions focused on their practical economic and industry effects without personal or partisan commentary.
3. General Conduct & Posting Guidelines
-
Use Descriptive Titles: Give your topic a clear, descriptive title so other members know what it is about (e.g., "1998 Sonor S Class Heavy Maple Shell Specs" instead of "Quick Question").
-
No Spam or Unsolicited Promotion: Spamming, affiliate link pushing, automated bot activity, or unsolicited commercial promotion without prior staff authorization is not permitted.
4. Classifieds & Marketplace Rules
-
Personal Sales Only: The Marketplace is intended for private members buying, selling, or trading personal gear. Commercial vendors must contact administration prior to posting sales listings.
-
Include Photos & Prices: All "For Sale" listings must include actual photos of the item and an asking price.
-
Buyer / Seller Responsibility: Drums On Stage does not handle transactions, payment processing, or shipping logistics. Members buy and sell at their own risk. Always use secure payment methods (such as PayPal Goods & Services).
5. Profiles, Signatures & Moderation
-
Signatures & Avatars: Keep signatures clean and unobtrusive. Brief gear lists or personal website links are acceptable, but large graphics or animated GIFs are not permitted. Profile pictures must be work-safe.
-
Moderation: Moderation staff reserve the right to edit, move, lock, or delete any post that falls outside these guidelines. If you see a post that violates board rules, please use the Report Post button (!) rather than escalating the discussion in the thread.
Thank you for contributing to a positive, informative, and welcoming community at Drums On Stage!
